The U.S. National Science Foundation Directorate for Computer and Information Science and Engineering (NSF CISE) supports research and education at the intersection of people, computing and learning. 

The U.S. National Science Foundation Directorate for Computer and Information Science and Engineering (NSF CISE) supports research and education at the intersection of people, computing and learning. NSF CISE advances human-centered computing, computing education research and the design of technologies to:

  • Amplify human capabilities.
  • Expand access to information, education and work.
  • Strengthen the trustworthiness and usability of computing systems, AI-enabled technologies and human-technology interfaces.

This work includes areas such as human-AI teaming, human-computer/robot interaction, immersive technologies, and computing and quantum information science education and workforce development.
